Setting Goals:

"A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at"
- Bruce Lee

It is important to set goals in order to challenge yourself. Goals give us something to reach for. You may not always reach your goals, but in the process, you will become a better person. Don't spend too much time obsessing on the end goal, but make an effort everyday to do one thing that will put you closer to reaching your goal.

How to Fight Depression and Stay Positive

Everyone has feelings of depression at one point or another...

Here are a few rules I try to follow to stay positive:
-Keep your life simple and be content with what you have
-Always try to help others when possible and always try to only affect people in a positive way
-Work to better yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually
-Kindness, compassion, love, and loyalty will cultivate happiness in yourself and others
-Laugh often and smile more

Reminder to Myself to Live

Create a life that you do not have to escape from: One where the weekend isn't your refuge.
One where instead of looking forward to your next vacation, you can simply look forward to tomorrow.

The pursuit of money vs the pursuit of happiness.

I often find myself feeling depressed when I think of how I fit into society. The rat race of self indulged people spending their whole lives accumulating wealth through monetary things.... I hate it. I hate that money is what drives our society. I hate that people are judged by what car they drive, by what clothes they wear, by how much stupid pointless shit they have, and most of all that people would rather selfishly spend money on things than to help others who are in need. It really depresses me.
I often have to remind myself what's truly important: happiness. True happiness is within YOU, not some thing that can be bought in a store. To me, being happy is living life contently with small means. If you are content with what you have, you will be able to devote your energy to that which is truly important and worth while.
That all being said. I would like to share one of my favorite poems, "William Henry Channing's Sympony" by Arthur Brisbane:
THE THOUGHT-
To live contently with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common - this is my symphony.

Giving

It doesn't matter how little you are able to give, what matters is that you gave everything you could

Selflessness

Life has no value if you think only of yourself.

So it begins...

I guess I just thought it would be nice to have somewhere to be able to put my thoughts down in writing as I usually have a lot on my mind.
I love philosophy, psychology, and everything in between. I don't consider myself some kind of profound thinker, but I do often think of the profound and I believe that maintaining an open mind is one of the most important aspects of life.
All that being said, I will dedicate this blog to sharing my inner thoughts on life, death, love, society, and whatever else happens to be on my mind at the time.
